A study of the robustness of PRNU-based camera identification

چکیده
We investigate the robustness of PRNU-based camera identification in cases where the test images have been passed through common image processing operations. A specific question we aim to answer is how camera identification can be circumvented by an nontechnical user, applying only standard and/or freely available software. We study denoising, recompression, out-of-camera demosaicing. We measure the beneficial effect of JPEG block artifact removal on camera identification accuracy. We examine the extent to which JPEG block artifact removal helps circumvention by improving the performance of a denoiser that is used to remove PRNU features. We evaluate the effectiveness of the StirMark watermark remover as a tool for circumventing camera identification, and we examine the similarities and differences between watermark circumvention and camera identification circumvention.

This paper proposes a simple but yet an effective new method for the problem of digital video camera identification. It is known that after an exposure time of 0.15 seconds, the green channel is the noisiest of the three RGB colour channels [5]. Based on this observation, the digital camera pattern noise reference, which is extracted using only the green channel of the frames and is called Gree...

In this paper, we revisit the problem of digital camera sensor identification using photo-response non-uniformity noise (PRNU). Considering the identification task as a joint estimation and detection problem, we use a simplified model for the sensor output and then derive a Maximum Likelihood estimator of the PRNU. The model is also used to design optimal test statistics for detection of PRNU i...

In this paper, we propose a novel camera identification method based on photo-response non-uniformity (PRNU), which performs well even with rotated videos. One of the disadvantages of the PRNUbased camera identification methods is that they are very sensitive to desynchronization. If a video under investigation is slightly rotated, the identification process without synchronization fails. The p...
متن کاملForensic use of photo response non-uniformity of imaging sensors and a counter method.
Analogous to use of bullet scratches in forensic science, the authenticity of a digital image can be verified through the noise characteristics of an imaging sensor. In particular, photo-response non-uniformity noise (PRNU) has been used in source camera identification (SCI). However, this technique can be used maliciously to track or inculpate innocent people. To impede such tracking, PRNU noi...
متن کاملEstimate of PRNU Noise Based on Different Noise Models for Source Camera Identification
Identification of the source that has generated a digital content is considered one of the main open issues in multimedia forensics community. The extraction of photo-response non-uniformity (PRNU) noise has been so far indicated as a mean to identify sensor fingerprint. Such a fingerprint can be estimated from multiple images taken by the same camera by means of a de-noising filtering operatio...
